Local publicans Adrian Bell and James McLaughlin, who have a background managing bands, have become multi-operators after opening their first site with Ei Publican Partnerships following a joint investment of around £300,000.
The Horn at the Half Moon in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire follows the same successful format as their existing pub, the Horn in St Albans, boasting quality live music six nights a week from local bands.
Part of the renovations have focused on a custom built room for live music performances, with the introduction of a new PA system, bespoke stage and lighting rig.
In addition, the new-look community pub also boasts a fully restored interior, including brand new furniture, custom made bar and total refit of a new kitchen. The cellar had a total refit including new chillers, pythons and custom made dispense fonts.
There have also been external refurbishments including new signage and refreshed paint work on the pub. The new kitchen has put food back on the menu, with the duo focusing on doing simple things very well with a range of burgers and grills, using locally sourced fresh produce that complement the live music offer.
Speaking about their new pub, Adrian said: “We’re passionate about music and wanted to create a place that gave the local community something a little different. As a country we have produced the biggest and best acts consistently over the last 50 years and without grass roots venues like the Horn at the Half Moon there won’t be anywhere for bands to develop their craft.
“We’d like to thank Ei Publican Partnerships for giving us the opportunity to run this pub and also to everyone who attended the opening night. We’re very much looking forward to the future at the Horn at the Half Moon.”
Ei Publican Partnerships Regional Manager Richard Smyth added: “Adrian and James have proven their live music offer has been a success at their other pub so it was a very easy decision for us to make when they showed interest in the site. The pub is looking great now and the locals should be really excited with what they have in-store at the venue- we wish them all the best for the future.”
