Christopher Munro, Head of London Wine Department comments: “Rare Bordeaux and Whisky starred in today’s wine sale. We witnessed the highest price ever paid for a single bottle of whisky at Christie’s as an ultra-rare bottle of Dalmore 62-year-old made an astonishing £114,000 more than doubling its pre-sale estimate.
A full case of Cheval Blanc 1947 made a record price in London, £168,000. Twenty-two lots consigned directly from the cellars of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild to mark the 90th anniversary year of Michael Broadbent were 100% sold raising £103,380 for two notable charities. Collectors responded enthusiastically to the diverse offering, with the Charles Heidsieck collection also selling 100% by lot totalling £123,180, it was a truly remarkable experience.”
