This Autumn, Westerns Laundry will open their ten cover private dining room with a specially designed sharing menu created by co-founder and Executive Chef, David Gingell.
Encased by large, distressed Victorian bay windows, the private dining room makes for an intimate dinner setting, tucked just behind the restaurants open kitchen for diners to feel part of the action. Candles line the table and incandescent strip lights, now discontinued worldwide light the rich burgundy walls, where Katie Boxer’s painting of a hungry lion in denial hangs, entitled “I won’t eat you”.
David has created a bespoke menu for guests to share, including starters of Oysters, Paleta iberica and croquettes, followed by a feasting main course for the table, with a choice of either Wing rib with peppercorn sauce; Pork belly with cabbage and apple; Roast hake or cod with butter sauce; Roast chickens with salad and anchovies; or Baked seafood fideo pasta with aioli. To complete the menu, a choice of desserts in large bowls will include Chocolate Mousse or Rum Baba with vanilla ice cream.
“We’ve put a lot of time into creating a space that feels really special for our guests, something elevated above the normal dining experience” says Jeremie. “Sharing is my favourite way to eat so I wanted to design a menu to reflect that – what could be better than spending an evening with a big group of friends or family, passing the food around the table and getting stuck in!” adds David.
Following the success of Primeur, Jeremie Cometto-Lingenheim and David Gingell opened Westerns Laundry in Lower Holloway in May 2017. Housed in the remaining part of a 1950s laundry building, the restaurant comprises of a textured, pared back aesthetic reflecting the history of its space. With a menu focusing on seafood and dishes made with the highest quality produce, all ingredients are sourced from the British Isles.
