A Doncaster hotel has appointed one of the industry’s rising stars as its new General Manager.
The Campanile Hotel on Doncaster Leisure Park is now being run under the stewardship of Kalps Jetha, who has been with the hotel chain for 10 years.
Kalps, 30, entered the hospitality industry with Campanile in 2007 as a night porter at their Leicester hotel after studying IT at De Montford University, and within two years he rose to hotel manager level.
He spent a further two years as hotel manager at Campanile’s Milton Keynes hotel before making the move up north to Doncaster.
Kalps said: “When I reflect on where I’ve come from, to be in the position I am in now is a dream come true.
“When I first started out in 2007, I was on a hard money-saving mission, so I was working at two jobs and was determined to make a name for myself with the hotel.
“Thankfully after two weeks Campanile noticed my work ethic and offered me a promotion to receptionist, and after that I haven’t really looked back.
“After two years running our busy Milton Keynes hotel, I was offered the challenge of becoming general manager at the Doncaster hotel.
“It is in a fantastic location right next to Doncaster Racecourse and adjacent to the Dome Leisure Centre, and we regularly sell out our rooms whenever there is a major event on. The challenge for us as a team is to try and tap into the wider community and engage with other events that are happening.”
Mark Aldridge is the director of operations for UK & Iberia at Campanile Hotel’s parent company Louvre Hotels Group, and has overseen Kalps’ career.
He added: “Kalps is one of our top performers in the business and builds a great rapport with his staff and customers, so it’s easy to see why he has risen through the ranks the way he has.
“The location of our Doncaster hotel means it is sitting on so much potential, and we think Kalps’ drive, determination and savvy nature will help to unlock that potential.”
