To celebrate the grand opening of Travelodge’s new hotel in The Hub in Milton Keynes, the company has gifted the town with a family of life size cows. The cows, which include two adults and a calf, have had a bespoke outdoor meadow room built for them on the piazza outside the hotel.
The Mayor of the Borough of Milton Keynes, Steve Coventry joined Travelodge UK Development Director, Tony O’Brien to officially open the hotel and to receive MK’s new herd of cows.
Milton Keynes at the Hub Travelodge, was formerly a Ramada Encore hotel but over the last six months it has been modernised using a £1.2 million investment by the landlord. The hotel and all 159 rooms have been updated in line with its contemporary new brand design not only this, luxurious king-size Travelodge Dreamer beds have been installed to every room.
The hotel has a Bar Café that overlooks the piazza and water feature at The Hub, in addition. The large Bar Café offers the company’s new-look unlimited breakfast, with household name brands including Lavazza Italian coffee, Kellogg’s cereals and Linda McCartney vegetarian options. Each room has en-suite facilities with eco-friendly showers, in-room toiletries including liquid soap, a flat screen TV with free digital channels, free tea and coffee making facilities, and free Wi-Fi for 30 minutes during every stay.
In addition to the new hotel opening at The Hub, the company is celebrating 18 years since Travelodge opened its first hotel in Milton Keynes.
At today’s hotel opening Travelodge also announced Buckinghamshire is a key growth area for the company, as the demand for good value accommodation is growing at pace. To meet this demand, the hotel chain is looking for a further three hotel sites in the following locations: Leighton Buzzard, Amersham and Chesham. This expansion could create up to 100 new jobs.
Tony O’Brien, Travelodge UK Development Director said: “We are delighted to open our biggest hotel in Buckinghamshire in the heart of Milton Keynes town centre at The Hub. It’s a prime location that will attract new business and leisure travellers, which is great news for the local economy. Our research shows that Travelodge customers will spend over £2 million with local businesses during their stay over the next year.
“Our recent investment in upgrading the customer experience and raising quality levels across our Buckinghamshire hotels is driving strong growth, significantly from business travellers.
Tracey Williams, Milton Keynes at The Hub, Hotel Manager said: “We thought it would be a nice gesture to gift the town with a new set of cows to celebrate our new hotel opening 18th anniversary in Milton Keynes. The new cows are very happy in their outdoor meadow room and are a big hit with our guests and are making friends with the locals.”
“The hotel has got off to a flying start, we are busy with business customers during the week and leisure travellers at the weekends. Customers love the new look hotel and we have been inundated with requests from guests wanting to get their hands on a Travelodge Dreamer Bed. It is lucky that you can buy your own on our website.”
