Hammerson today reveals The Oracle’s exciting new plans to deliver a £5.7 million comprehensive upgrade of The Riverside, which will see Reading’s premier dining and leisure destination significantly enhanced.
Central to the regeneration project will be a new 167 m2 fully glass fronted Pavilion in which modern Lebanese restaurant, Comptoir Libanais will make its debut in the town. With its popular Middle Eastern cuisine, Comptoir Libanais is the ideal addition to the Riverside, providing visitors with the opportunity to experience real, wholesome and healthy Lebanese food in a souk-like setting.
The regeneration project will be delivered in two phases; Phase One will deliver the new Pavilion and reconfiguration of The Riverside’s terrace steps to create a larger public space that will be ideal for performances, kiosks and pop-ups. Phase Two will deliver the second tranche of public realm works, ensuring that The Oracle continues to attract London standard retailers and restaurants and remains the destination of choice for family dining and entertainment.
Sarah Fox, Head of Restaurants and Leisure at Hammerson commented: “Welcoming a restaurateur of such calibre to The Riverside is testament not only to The Oracle’s already well-established dining offer, but also our vision for its regeneration.
“The Oracle has continued to successfully attract new and exciting brands to Reading. This next stage of development for the centre will help meet the demands of today’s discerning shopper, and by boosting the already vibrant dining and leisure offering it will only serve to entice other international brands.”
Andy Briggs, General Manager at The Oracle said; “The Riverside has always been the jewel in The Oracle’s crown, offering a premium destination for leisure and dining in the town centre and Comptoir Libanais will be a welcome addition to our vibrant line-up. We’re delighted to begin the next phase of growth for the centre and create a revived public space for Reading.”
