Eastleigh College’s Hospitality and Catering team will be attending the grand finale of the Pearson Teaching Awards this Sunday 23rd October, hosted by actor and comedian Hugh Dennis. At the awards ceremony they will find out if they won a Gold Plato Award for their continuing success!
The nomination comes after the team’s receipt of a Silver Teaching Award earlier this year, for their enthusiasm and determination in providing an excellent teaching and learning experience for their students. The award was one of only 52 in the country, and puts them in the running to receive one of 10 Gold Plato Awards at the finale this weekend.
Speaking about the nomination, Hospitality and Catering lecturer Lisa Hatherell said, “We were so proud to have won the Silver Award earlier in the year. To be considered amongst the best Further Education teams in the country has made us feel incredibly proud. Our students have been fundamental in the success of our department, so we feel that to win would be testimony to their hard work and commitment too.”
Commenting on the receipt of the Silver Teaching Award earlier this year, Eastleigh MP Mims Davies praised the team for their efforts, “I’ve seen the Catering department on several occasions in the past year, and every time I have been impressed with their excellent service and all the amazing things they’ve been doing here.”
We wish the team the best of luck this Sunday, and hope they enjoy the ceremony!
