Europe’s design-led budget hotel brand, Motel One, has released its business report for the second half of 2016. With three new hotel openings, two additional awards and increased revenue it has been a busy six months for Motel One.
Highlights from the report include:
- Motel One receives 2016 German Education Award – The Motel One Group received the “2016 German Education Award” in the “Service Provision by Major Companies” category, an initiative launched by TÜV SÜD Academy under the aegis of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
- Sales increased by 16% – Reaching EUR 171 million of sales following on from the previous year‘s figures of EUR 147m. Occupancy rates year on year also saw a rise from 73% in 2015 to 74% in 2016 YTD.
- Increased number of hotels – As of 30th June 2016 the group is operating with 54 hotels and 14,440 rooms, this is an increase on the previous year’s 50 hotels and 13,525 rooms.
- Three new hotel openings – The start of the year was busy with two openings – the group’s seventh hotel in the Bavarian capital, Motel One München-Olympia Gate and the fifth in the UK, Motel One Newcastle. Q2 saw the opening of Motel One Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, the third hotel in the city.
- Integration project launched – In April 2016, Motel One launched a pilot project to aid integration of refugees in Munich. Eight refugees based at four Motel One hotels began a preparatory training internship accompanied by an intensive German course, with the aim being to accept the interns onto the two-year training course to gain a hospitality qualification.
- Introduction of Motel One’s Gin concept – With a diverse new gin menu including over 40 favourite hand-picked and carefully selected gins as well as six different types of tonic, Motel One is highlighting the One Lounge bar as an even more prominent position within the hotel.
