Beginning this Thursday, March 17, Marriott Rewards is utilizing Periscope to bring the energy and excitement of the Music is Universal SXSW showcase to music fans worldwide. Utilizing one of the first-ever dual camera live streams on the app, Marriott Rewards, through its partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG), will provide unfiltered and exclusive access to performances by DNCE (Republic), The Strumbellas (Glassnote) and Niykee Heaton (Capitol) including intimate views from cameras on mic stands, instruments and a more traditional view from the crowd. And, to truly give fans worldwide a SXSW experience, Marriott Rewards is hosting Twitter polls that will let the public decide which songs will be broadcast on Periscope.
Because of its growing reputation for innovative content creation, Marriott is one of a few select brands participating in Twitter’s latest pilot which allows brands to promote Periscope broadcasts directly into the Twitter timeline. Fans can follow @MarriottRewards on Twitter to vote for their favorite song, access the full roster of UMG artists and Periscope broadcast schedule, and find out additional information about ways to experience life #WithTheBand.
“Marriott Rewards continues to break new ground collaborating with innovators so our 55 million loyalty members can connect with their passion for travel and music,” said Amanda Moore, Senior Director of Social & Digital Marketing for Marriott Rewards. “Being one of a select few brands asked to participate in Twitter’s pilot demonstrates how Marriott Rewards has been seeking new ways to engage our members to bring them unique, live and intimate experiences.”
Marriott Rewards is a first-time major sponsor of the South by Southwest 2016 Music Conference and Festival. Music is Universal expands on Marriott Reward’s partnership with global music leader UMG that launched in June of last year. Marriott and UMG are creating a first-of-its-kind experience taking over areas of the JW Marriott Austin hotel during SXSW music, featuring headline performances by Grammy-nominee Ryan Adams and the critically-acclaimed Avett Brothers, and daily showcases with additional artists. Marriott Rewards members can receive special access to these performances by showing their member number on the Marriott Mobile app to gain entry, regardless of whether or not they have SXSW badges.
Special access is for Marriott Rewards members only and is subject to availability. Must be age 21+ to attend evening performances and 18+ to attend daytime performances.
