Motel One, the budget design hotel chain, has had a busy couple of years in the UK already but are showing no signs of slowing down with at least three new UK openings (897 rooms) planned – taking them up to 2018. New locations include Newcastle and Glasgow, as well as a second hotel in Manchester. Offering “Great design for little money”, Motel One is already a firm favorite with both leisure and business travelers in the UK.
Exciting UK market
On the future of Motel One in the UK, Stefan Lenze, Head of Development stated “The growing UK market is a very exciting one for Motel One and we are really looking forward to expanding our portfolio in the UK. By 2018 we will have 7 hotels with about 1,900 rooms in the UK. Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester are key cities for us and we will provide great value and designer accommodation for affordable prices!”
Kicking off the exciting next stage for Motel One in the UK is the opening of Motel One Newcastle at the start of 2016. The new 222 room hotel will be found in the historical city centre near Central Station, Theatre Royal and Grey’s Monument. Combining an old renovated building of 50 rooms, with a new 172 room building will offer guests a unique stay with a mix of tradition, industrialization and modern style.
Motel One prides itself on the individual interior design for all its properties and Motel One Newcastle will be no different. The One Lounge breakfast area will reflect the iconic seven bridges over the Tyne, whilst the bar will focus on Robert Stephenson’s invention of the steam train Rocket. With rooms starting from just £59 per night, visitors to the city will benefit from high quality design and service right in the city centre.
Next up to open its doors in autumn 2017 is Motel One Manchester-Cross Street. Following the success of their debut hotel in the city with Motel One Manchester- Piccadilly, the second Motel One will be found at 15 Cross Street boasting 301 rooms. Providing business and leisure travelers with convenient and stylish accommodation, Motel One Manchester-Cross Street will be an exciting new edition to the Manchester hospitality market.
Last but by no means least is Motel One Glasgow. Anticipated to open in 2018, Motel One Glasgow will be found right next to Glasgow Central Station and within easy walking distance to the city’s Gallery of Modern Art and just 1.7km from the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. With 374 rooms, Motel One Glasgow will be Scotland’s largest hotel by room numbers.
