Red Dog set for Lakeside

May 31, 2015

Red Dog the creator of the infamous Devastator Burger challenge, is to open its fourth outlet at Intu Lakeside, West Thurrock in Essex.

The American barbeque and classic sandwich concept which began with the Red Dog Saloon and added Red Dog Sandwiches both are in Hoxton Square. It also has Red Dog South in Clapham.

The group is seeking further sites in the South East. Red Dog is planning an 80-cover restaurant at Lakeside and has taken a 2,025 sq ft unit on a 10 year lease. The rent was not disclosed.

The eight inch Devastator burger, which has attracted lots of media coverage consists of six bacon rashers, three 6oz beef burger patties, six slices of cheese, 200g of pulled pork which comes with a side of coleslaw, fries and a milkshake has to be devoured in under 10 minutes if you want to get on The Wall Of Fame.

Red Dog pride themselves on their authentic taste of the South and use award winning smokers that have been imported from the US and diners can savour hickory and mesquite flavoured pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Their classic American sandwich range includes Reubens, Cubans and Po’ Boys as staples.

Restaurant Property’s Nick Garston who advised Red Dog said: “This deal is a great example of how landlords and shopping centres have embraced destination restaurants. They now have realised that interesting fresh concepts are a draw in themselves but have also been proven to increase dwell time and spend. Red Dog has a great fun offer that we expect will trade really well from this site.”
