Apex Hotels, one of the UK’s leading owners and operators of four star hotels, has purchased a superb site in central Bath within the Bath Conservation Area.
The site, currently a vacant office building, benefits from detailed planning consent for redevelopment into a new 177 bedroom full service hotel with extensive conference facilities.
Rare and exciting opportunity
“This is a rare and exciting growth opportunity for Apex to add to our portfolio and have presence in a popular UNESCO World Heritage Site” said Norman Springford, Chairman of Apex Hotels. “Our properties have developed a great reputation and we hope to emulate this with the opening of our property in Bath”
The full development costs will be in the region of £35m. Work to demolish the current building will begin later this year, with the construction of the new hotel scheduled to begin in May 2015 with an estimated opening date of Autumn 2016. I S Architects, based in Edinburgh, have been appointed to oversee the development project.
The site is situated onthe corner of Charles Street and James Street West within Bath City Centre and is ideally located within easy reach of local tourist destinations with the world famous Roman Baths situated just 200 metres away.
A few minutes walk from the Bath Spa train station, this new hotel development is just a 90 minute journey from London with good rail links to other major cities.
Apex Hotels is one of the UK’s leading independent owners and operators of four star contemporary hotels. Headquartered in Edinburgh, the group owns and operates 8 hotels in London, Edinburgh and Dundee.
