A total of 204 Wetherspoon pubs across the UK have achieved the ultimate rating in the Loo of the Year Awards 2013, receiving the platinum award – the highest award possible and given only to outlets which offer ‘exceptional toilets.’
A further 96 of the company’s pubs received the gold award.
The awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of ‘away from home’ toilet provision across the UK, with authorised inspectors making unannounced visits to hundreds of toilets at outlets across the UK in order to judge them.
Loo of the Year Awards 2013 managing director, Mike Bone, said: “The unique design, cleanliness and range of facilities at Wetherspoon pubs is a credit to the company and the pub management and staff who keep them in excellent condition.”
Wetherspoon chief executive, John Hutson, added: “The quality and cleanliness of our toilets is important to both us and our customers.
“We are delighted that this has been recognised by the inspectors and that our pubs achieved such high ratings.”
