Ed’s Easy Diner to open at intu Chapelfield in Norwich
Ed’s Easy Diner is set to open a new 3,000 sq ft restaurant at intu Chapelfield next month as part of its UK expansion plans, making it the brand’s fifth with intu. Intu has also recently signed a lease for an Ed’s Outside at intu Midsummer Place in Milton Keynes
The retro American dining operator has taken a 15 year lease on the new restaurant within the existing dining terrace at the Norwich scheme, which is the first Ed’s in East Anglia, and intu has worked closely with the brand to reconfigure the previous unit.
Intu is in the process of working up plans to further enhance the food and beverage offer at intu Chapelfield. Over the last 12-18 months it has introduced new catering concepts to the centre including Carluccio’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Café Rouge, ASK, Yo! Sushi and Giraffe, creating a vibrant and varied catering offer at the centre.
Andrew Guy, chief executive of Ed’s Easy Diner said: “During 2013 we’re intending to add another seven restaurants to our line-up along with several milkshake stands. Intu Chapelfield sits well within this expansion programme and will allow more people than ever to enjoy our classic diner experience.”
YO! Sushi to land at Heathrow T2 with innovative ordering service
YO! Sushi is to open a restaurant at Heathrow Terminal2: The Queen’s Terminal in June 2014, offering quirky pod seating and an innovative service designed around the unique needs of airline passengers.
Airline passengers will be able to pre-order their food online before they arrive, ensuring their order will be ready for takeaway as soon as they come through security. For those wanting to dine in, any hot food or bespoke orders can be taken by the team of kitchen ninjas who will use a tablet to place the order directly with the kitchen.
The restaurant will showcase an exclusive range of set menus to give passengers the option of a wellness meal before their flight. The ‘Wellness Menu’ will provide customers with the optimum amount of nutrition before getting on a long haul flight, highlighting various nutritional benefits to aid a comfortable journey such as omega 3 oil found in our delicious sashimi.
Alison Vickers, Business Development Director at YO! Sushi said: “We are delighted to be expanding our Heathrow offering as our existing site in Terminal 3 has been a key factor to the success of the brand in the UK. Our fun, fresh and fast menu options are proving a hit with international passengers who are strapped for time so our Terminal 2 restaurant design and service reflects this.”
Arts and crafts’ favourite on the market
Once one of Arts and Crafts guru William Morris’ favourite watering holes, The Plough Inn in Kelmscott near Lechlade is on the market with Colliers International.
The 17th century pub on the edge of the Cotswolds offers eight letting bedrooms as well as a cottage for owners or managers. In addition to the eight letting bedrooms the Plough includes an owner’s cottage with a kitchen, sitting room, double bedroom and shower room. There is also a double bedroom with en suite that could in future be available for staff or as an extension of the owners’ accommodation.
Situated in the charming village of Kelmscott near Lechlade, the Plough ticks all the boxes for the archetypal Cotswolds pub complete with local stone exterior and slate roof, flagged floors, exposed walls and welcoming open fireplace beneath plenty of beams.
Peter Brunt, hotels director at Colliers International, comments:
“Walk into the Plough and you really do step back through time. It’s a residential inn of great quality with eight very smart letting bedrooms which widen its appeal. “The cosy bar and generously sized restaurant have huge amounts of character, pulling in regulars from around the area as well as visitors to the Manor.”
On the market with Colliers International at £650,000 freehold, the pub is just around the corner from Kelmscott Manor – former home of renowned textile and furnishings designer William Morris.
