On 20 May 2013David Crawshaw and Rob Croxen of KPMG were appointed joint administrators to Cordial Hotels Limited and Cordial Hotels Acquisitions Limited, the non-trading holding companies of Menzies Hotels Group, which owns 15 hotels and has its head office in Derby.
Commenting on the appointment, Rob Croxen said:
“Administration appointments have been made over the non-trading parent companies of the Menzies Hotels Group due to the unsustainable levels of debt in these entities. The appointment of administrators does not affect the hotels at an operational level so it is business as usual for the hotels, with bookings unaffected and no redundancies. Our administration team will now be looking to undertake a strategic review of the group and will provide further updates on progress of the administrations. ”
The group has around 1,200 employees who are employed by subsidiaries and are therefore not affected by the administration.
The hotels are located in:
Aberdeen Airport (Dyce), Swindon, Glasgow, Cambridge, Birmingham City (Strathallan), London Chigwell (Prince Regent), Stratford Upon Avon (Welcombe), London Gatwick (Chequers), Birmingham (Stourport Manor), Woburn (Flitwick Manor), Irvine, Bournemouth (Carlton), Derby (Mickleover Court), Bournemouth (East Cliff Court), London Luton (Strathmore)
