The Pig – In the Forest was honoured by two major accolades at the prestigious National Restaurant Awards 2012.
It was a great night for The Pig – In the Forest which won the inaugural Sustainable Restaurant of the Year award, given in conjunction with the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), having scored the highest in the areas of sourcing, environment and society.
The New Forest-based country hotel and restaurant, which opened its doors in July 2011, was also voted number 29 in the list of the UK’s 100 best restaurants, beating such illustrious establishments as Chez Bruce, Texture, The River Cafe, Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley and Hakkasan Mayfair.
Robin Hutson, chairman and chief executive of Home Grown Hotels commented:
“We are all absolutely thrilled to be given this award. We are particularly delighted that the judges recognised the genuine and responsible commitment we have to our food sourcing, the entire team are on board with this commitment and this award is very much for them”
Now in their fifth year, the National Restaurant Awards are voted for by a panel consisting of 150 restaurateurs, chefs, food critics and journalists across 12 regions. They are designed to highlight the best restaurants currently in operation in the UK and celebrate and reward the nation’s top chefs and restaurateurs.
