Two new purpose built oak barns have been built at Knebworth House to complement the existing Knebworth Barns conference and banqueting centre, making the venue big enough to now hold a maximum of 700 guests – 75% more than before.
Opening on Wednesday 28 September, the new Cobbold and Lytton Barns will double the size of space available for events and create a beautiful courtyard area, ideal for wedding receptions and drinks parties.
Capable of hosting up to 250 people, the Cobbold Barn is the perfect venue to host an event with a private entrance, car parking, private patio, garden area and bar facility and will be available for a wide variety of events including exclusive Christmas parties, wedding receptions, parties, conferences and exhibitions.
The Lytton Barn is suitable for smaller meetings with a boardroom facility for up to 20 people that has its own PA system and is fully equipped for meetings. Additionally, it is ideally sized to host a reception for up to 80 guests with a private entrance, car parking and an outside patio area.
Martha Lytton Cobbold says, “We are delighted that the Cobbold and Lytton Barns will be launched at the end of September as they have been in the planning and phased development stage for eleven years. We are thrilled to have the project completed, and look forward to offering the enhanced facilities to our visitors and guests. We will be able to offer more flexibility to our clients and be able to host events and exhibitions for up 700 people using all the barns.”
Knebworth House and Park
Knebworth House is a grade II listed, red-brick Tudor building with Victorian High Gothic decoration, and has been home to the Lytton family for 500 years. With its large parks and grounds, ample facilities and large stately rooms, Knebworth is able to accommodate all manner of occasions, both public and corporate, from enormous outdoor concerts to classic dinners, seminars and conferences, drinks receptions and outdoor events for up to 125,000 guests.
The Knebworth Barns Conference and Banqueting Centre was originally made up of two 400-year-old Tithe Barns, carefully moved from the estate and restored to create a unique setting, and is in walking distance of the house. The new extension completes the phased development which now incorporates the Garden Terrace Barn, a new retail shop, the Lytton Barn and the Cobbold Barn as well as enhanced kitchen and lavatory facilities. Knebworth Barns conference and banqueting centre has received the “Best Venue” Award six times from the Corporate Hospitality & Event Association, and will be hosting the Hertfordshire Business Awards for the third time this November.
Knebworth House has 250 acres of parkland and has direct access off the A1M.
