Prior to the trophy presentation representatives of ‘Ipswich Town FC’, Portman Pie makers ‘Kentish Mayde’, sponsors of the Football Pie League ‘Pig in a Poke’ and representatives of ‘HandCNews’ as well as local press enjoyed a Portman Pie for lunch in the Sir Alf Ramsay suite. As ever the pie was fantastic and most washed it down with a pint or two of local beer Adnams.

Following the award Mike Reider commented, “We have been developing the ‘Portman Pie’ over a number of years now and are really pleased with the quality and its suitability as a Football fans pie.
To get the right balance of crust texture, gravy and meat content so it can be hand held is as important as its flavour. The quality of ingredients goes to show our passion to make the best pie in the league which includes best quality beef and Adnams Broadside ale to give a rich and deep flavour.
In Suffolk there is a demand for quality products so we are fortunate having discerning fans that appreciate the ‘Portman Pie’ which possibly isn’t the case at other clubs.
So it’s through the fans support that we have been able to expand the sales of the ‘Portman Pie’ and win this award, which we are hoping to repeat this season.”
