Brothers and actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg have agreed to license the name of a hamburger from a chain of drive in restaurants based in New York and plan sell the new burger from their new eatery Wahlburgers.
Representatives from Tom Wahl’s said that the brothers licensed the Wahlburger name from the company so they can use it when they open a burger restaurant called Wahlburgers in their home town Boston.
Tom Wahl’s serves a cheeseburger called a Wahlburger and owns the federal trademark rights to the name.
Tom and his brother Bill opened the first Tom Wahl’s restaurant in Avon, south of Rochester, in 1955. The chain now operates eight restaurants.
Mark has appeared in a number of successful films including Martin Scorcese’s Oscar winning The Departed and more recently Oscar nominated The Fighter.
The company hasn’t disclosed the value of the agreement.
