At a prestigious ceremony at the House of Commons, Hospitality Student of the Year, Jonathan Davies, received his award from BBC presenter Martin Roberts. The event was hosted by Lord Snape and attended by the Speaker of the House, John Bercow, and other politicians.
The award is presented each year by the Institute for Travel & Tourism for outstanding technical achievement in the hospitality sector.
Jonathan, a student at Llandrillo College, beat stiff competition from students throughout the UK to win the opportunity to work with Steve Smith, Michelin starred Head Chef at the Devonshire Arms Burlington Restaurant, the most highly rated restaurant in Yorkshire.
On winning his award Jonathan said “I am thrilled to have won this award and delighted to have the opportunity to work with such a well-known and admired chef.”
Steve Smith said “We are all looking forward to working with Jonathan. He is an outstanding student and has already worked in some well-known kitchens I’m sure he will be a very useful addition to our team”
Jonathan, who obtained a degree in IT, pursued his love of cooking by taking a professional cooking course before enrolling in college. His prize also included £500 to spend on kitchen equipment.
