Social media is growing at an unprecedented rate and hospitality and catering businesses are social businesses by definition. Several pieces of research recently show that consumers are using social media more and more for simple practical matters such as booking hotel accommodation and researching and recommending restaurants.
One of the difficulties surrounding social media however is distinguishing the hype, of which there is no shortage from the facts, and most of us will have had our ears bent by at least one social media sage who can wave his or her magic wand at a website and make it the most visible in the world.
So we would welcome examples of how businesses in the hospitality and catering sector have applied social media and achieved something. It doesn’t have to be ground breaking, nor does it need to be from a well known brand, all we are looking for are examples illustrating how you have developed facebook, twitter or any of the other social media to the benefit of your business, big, small or anywhere in between.
We will then publish a feature looking at the practical applications of social media in our sector, we will not publish anything needless to say without the express permission of any contributors.
