Jamie’s Italian to open new outlet within Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms, one of Scotland’s most historic arts venues. The other branch of Jamie’s Kitchen, at George Square in Glasgow, has been a huge success receiving widespred acclaim acroos the city.
The venue opened in 1787 and now hosts major annual events such as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the CAMRA Real Ale Festival.
The TV cook is bringing a branch of Jamie’s Italian to Edinburgh as part of the refurbishment of the Grade A-listed building in George Street.
The popular chain, Jamie’s Italian, provides affordable Italian food though 18 restaurants across the UK.
The Edinburgh restaurant is expected to open next summer, Deidre Brock, Edinburgh City Council’s culture and leisure leader, said Jamie’s Kitchen will bring an “exciting contemporary feel” to the Assembly Rooms.
She added: “The companies will help to revitalise this wonderful building, restoring it to its rightful place as the beating heart of George Street.”
It was also revealed yesterday that Salt ‘n’ Sauce Promotions, the company behind the Stand Comedy Club, have won the contract to run the Assembly Rooms during the Festival Fringe in August.
