The London Restaurant Festival’s most exclusive ‘Pop-Up In The Sky’ restaurant returns this year with a brand new spin. Starting with drinks at the Savoy guests are set to be taken by boat to the EDF Energy London Eye where a capsule is transformed into a ten seat restaurant serving the world’s first six Michelin star meal. Each course will be cooked by some of London’s greatest chefs including Angela Hartnett, Jason Atherton, Claude Bosi, Pierre Koffmann and Marcus Wareing. This world first also includes a night at the Savoy to top off the evening – all part of this year’s London Restaurant Festival.

Now in its third year the London Restaurant Festival 2011 (3 – 17 October) will serve up a schedule of extraordinary events this year to meet everyone’s tastes and budgets. The citywide celebration of the capital’s restaurants and chefs will also continue its commitment to providing thousands of delicious festival menus across the city.
London’s most original gastronomic road trip, the Gourmet Odyssey, is also back. Diners have each course at a different restaurant and are transported by Routemaster bus. . Mayfair, Piccadilly, Soho and Clerkenwell are all covered. This year also announces the hotly anticipated walking routes. Indulge in starters, mains and desserts from restaurants including Hibiscus, Wild Honey and Amaranto.
The annual culinary debate, renamed ‘Chewing the Fat’, returns this year with the feisty motion. ‘There Is No Such Thing As Ethnic Food’. Held at King’s Place on October 11th, ticket holders will see guest hosts – set to include AA Gill – return for an evening of head to head culinary wit.
Starter For Ten is the ultimate foodie quiz for gastronomes. Held at the Criterion on October 4th, this evening will couple culinary cuisine with a real test of your food knowledge.
LRF own little film festival Eat Film is held at London’s hippest hotels – The Firmdale Group – in Soho, Covent Garden and Charlotte Street. Have cocktails and then watch a movie followed by a three course dinner inspired by the film and devised by London’s most distinguished restaurant critic, and LRF co-founder and chair, Fay Maschler.
American Express are challenging some of London’s top chefs at their event ‘What’s For Lunch?’ to see if they can improve some classic British dishes. Fighting to defend their reputations we will see French, British and Asian chefs in different corners putting their own interpretation on classic starters, main courses and desserts that have been voted for by the public.
LRF 2011 will also be serving up a host of Side Orders (fringe events) and announcing many other exciting events later in the year.
The London Restaurant Festival was created by Evening Standard restaurant critic Fay Maschler and Simon Davis, her business partner in restaurant consultancy and events organiser A Private View Ltd. The two-week festival takes places from 3rd to 17th October 2011.
