The Grade II Listed Mount Hotel, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, has been sold by Christie + Co to Scott Bernard, son of a locally-born businessman.
Originally built in 1865 for local businessman Benjamin Manders, the Mount Hotel and Conference Centre is located in Tettenhall Wood, near Wolverhampton, and is a graceful country house set within four-acres of listed manicured gardens and ornamental woodland.
The house retains many of its original features including the rosewood panelled Great Hall and elegant staircase and has recently benefited from the addition of a state of the art conference centre. In both 2008 and 2009 it was named as the Black Country Large Hotel and Business Hotel of the Year.
The hotel boasts 15 conference rooms with capacity for up to 200 delegates. Overnight accommodation comprises 66 en-suite bedrooms.
Gavin Wright, director of Christie + Co, which sold the Mount Hotel on the instruction from Blue Cedars Leisure, adds: “We’re delighted to have sold this elegant country house hotel to a family originally from the Wolverhampton area. Scott Bernard’s enthusiasm for the hotel was exemplified by the simultaneous exchange and completion, for cash.”
