MORI sushi has just launched its third outlet at 99 Kings Road, London SW3, sharing the same strong design aesthetic as the previous two restaurants in St Johns Wood and Marylebone. The site, designed by CADA, encompasses a sense of Japanese minimalist style, whilst retaining a functional space for the high volume of customers.
The aesthetic brief for the new site was to create an environment that synthesized the architectural and interior styles of both London and Tokyo; skyscraper/urban photography, Victorian brickwork and avant-garde chandeliers. Colour was included to evoke the impact of Japanese neon signs, contrasting with the sophistication of monochrome architectural photography. Conceptually, the interior is based on retail trends both in Japan and the UK, focusing on lifestyle aspirations, healthy eating and the marketable success of Japanese food. The result is an easily navigable retail space and a significant springboard for MORI’s brand building.
Food is available to eat in, with 25 seats available at a combination of tables and counter stools, as well as take-away and delivery, all packaged in MORI’s signature brightly coloured boxes and pots, another cornerstone of the brand.
MORI offers top quality, healthy Japanese and Eastern influenced dishes, from Thai green curry to maki and hand rolls, with recipes sourced from the street markets of Asia and the Far East. There’s also a speciality tea menu, as well as fat-free frozen yoghurt, to capture trade in-between meal times.
There are plans to expand MORI further, with sites being considered across London.
