The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year award recognises culinary excellence and service at restaurants across the UK.
The annual award is run to give the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite food venue across ten different UK areas, with the criteria that restaurants should be independently owned and offer regional or local produce where possible.
Ten regional winners are then announced from the nominations before The Good Food Guide judges whittle them down to crown their overall winner.
Last year saw more than 25,000 people nominating their favourite restaurants, with The Swan at Southrop, Gloucestershire seeing off the competition to win the crown.
Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor, The Good Food Guide, says: “Championing fresh, local produce and supporting great independent restaurants are at the heart of what The Good Food Guide does. Our Restaurant of the Year awards are a great way of recognising and rewarding outstanding cooking and exemplary service, and they provide members of the public with a chance to have their say in finding the best the UK has to offer.”
Nominations for the awards open on 21st February 20111 and can be made online at www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/awards
