Acting on behalf of British Waterways and Administrators BDO LLP, Christie + Co has re-let the former Bar Risa/Jongleurs in Nottingham, to Comic Enterprises, owners of the Glee Club, the comedy and music venue group.
Located close to the city centre in Nottingham’s Waterfront Development, the c.16,000sq ft site will become the fourth Glee Club in the UK when it opens in September. The opening will include performances from well-known American comic Rich Hall, up-and-coming Scottish comic Kevin Bridges, as well as regular weekend shows from the UK and international stand-up circuit.
Comic Enterprises currently operates Glee Clubs in Birmingham, Cardiff and Oxford.
Christie + Co let the former Bar Risa/Jongleurs in Oxford, in March this year, to Cavendish Bars. Part of the deal saw Comic Enterprises take the former Jongleurs site on the property’s first floor.
Christie + Co is currently acting on behalf of Administrator BDO LLP to market the leasehold interests of a number of ex-Regent Inns sites, which are spread across England. This includes the Walkabout in Portsmouth city centre, which has recently been brought onto the market.
Mark Tughan, Founder and Owner of Comic Enterprises, said: “Appropriate sites for Glee Clubs are rare and we are delighted to have secured this space in a canal side location, which suits our destination-venue positioning.”
Anthony Jenkins, Associate Director at Christie + Co, said: “These large city centre leasehold units continue to attract interest from a wide range of operators. We are delighted to have secured this fourth site for Comic Enterprises.”
