Prince of Peckham is now officially open for business, serving up wholesome Caribbean food from Street Feast regulars White Men Can’t Jerk along with beer and rum cocktails in a good old fashioned pub setting. With the local community at the forefront, Prince of Peckham will host regular events and workshops that celebrate the roots and culture of the area along with a programme of weekly music events. This weekend features London-born Siobhan Bell who will be spinning a set of nostalgic r&b remixes to trap, grime and Jersey club on Friday, whilst Peckham’s own Dear Earth and Sam Lloyd go back to back for an all night session on Saturday. Prince of Peckham was launched by South London-raised Clement Ogbonnaya with a vision of a proper pub operated by south Londoners for south Londoners.
Putting the people first and doing it for the culture, Prince of Peckham is a home from home for all that enter. Workshops and get togethers for locals will make the space a hub for the community, while a mix of good old fashioned hospitality and cutting-edge music programming will cement it as a destination for south London and beyond.
Weekly music events start with Siobhan Bell taking over the upstairs Friday 26th May with Peckham locals Dear Earth and Sam Lloyd going back to back Saturday 27th, future events feature Rinse FM lovely Yasmin who’ll play an all-out party set of R&B and bangers of yesteryear joined by Nadine Artois on June 3rd. South London local and 1xtra DJ Sian Anderson will perform June 9th, her sets feature sounds from the clubs to the streets.
Street Feast regulars White Men Can’t Jerk man the kitchen, with a weekly offering inspired by their love of all things Caribbean (view the full menu here). Saturday’s host a bottomless brunch, Sundays offer a jerk-inspired roast, while Hot Mess Mondays will serve up bottomless wings to cure any early week blues. The rest of the food menu features a fusion of Caribbean and British classics including homemade jerk sausage rolls, curried mutton shepherds pie and jerk sausages and mash with onion gravy. At the bar, rum-based cocktails and beers make up the drinks menu.
Speaking about Prince of Peckham, founder Clement Ogbonnaya says, “I used to go to school just down the road from Prince of Peckham and have been here ever since. To be able to do what I love in the place I grew up in makes this all the more special. Prince of Peckham is a place where everyone can feel at home, but first and foremost it is proper pub for south London, by south London.”
Eager to champion local creatives, Prince Of Peckham will provide a space for local artists to showcase work, providing an insight into the myriad of talent in the area. Free community-based events are planned in the coming weeks and will take advantage of the space upstairs.
Prince of Peckham is the first venture from The Arbuthnot Group, launched by Peckham-raised Clement Ogbonnaya. The group is committed to delivering quality hospitality through great value food and drink and excellent programming.
