Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading Community Pub Operator is delighted to announce that the Group has raised over £15,000 for The British Heart Foundation after a 30 strong team from across the Group conquered the summit of Scafell Pike in Cumbria, the highest peak in England.
Building on a series of challenges completed over recent years which have seen teams from Admiral climb Mount Snowdon (in 2013) and Ben Nevis (in 2015), last weekend saw the Group set Scafell Pike firmly in its sights, the final obstacle in the famous Three Peaks Challenge.
On Thursday 18th May 2017 12 cyclists set off from the Group’s head office in Chester to pedal a 160 mile route through Cheshire, Lancashire and the Lake District to the foot of Scafell Pike where on Saturday they were joined by colleagues from across the Group to complete a mass climb to the summit. Despite unseasonably poor weather, high winds, rain and hail 30 climbers reached the summit of the 978 metre mountain in under 4 hours.
Fundraising for the British Heart Foundation, the nation’s heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research, the team have raised an impressive £15,000, smashing through their initial £10,000 target.
Through completing the Three Peak Challenge, Admiral Taverns has now raised over £70,000 in the last four years for its chosen charities including The British Heart Foundation, Mind and Macmillan.
Commenting, Kevin Georgel, CEO of Admiral Taverns said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for a very worthy cause and on behalf of everyone at Admiral Taverns I would like to congratulate our Scafell Pike climbers.
It is testament to the spirit of our business that so many people have been keen to get involved and take on this challenge. The entire company has been behind them and I am delighted that we have smashed through our fundraising target with over £15,000 now raised for the British Heart Foundation this year and a grand total of over £70,000 raised for our dedicated charities in the last four years.”
