Ricardo Costa, Executive Chef at the The Yeatman Hotel, was awarded the ‘Rising Chef’ trophy at the annual Relais & Châteaux Trophies Awards Gala in Tokyo yesterday. It’s been a week of culinary achievements for the luxury Portuguese hotel, as on Thursday, the Gastronomic Restaurant at The Yeatman became the first restaurant ever in Porto to be awarded two Michelin Stars.
The Relais & Châteaux Trophies recognise expertise and excellence in the art of hospitality and fine dining, with the Rising Chef trophy awarded to young chefs whose creativity, imagination and commitment earmark them as the future grand masters of the fine dining around the world. The luxury group recognised Chef Ricardo Costa’s ‘sensational cuisine, which ’adds a touch of modernity and creativity to traditional dishes, combined with the best national wines’.
Chef Ricardo Costa, who brought the first Michelin Star to Porto in 2011, said ‘The Relais & Châteaux trophy is a recognition that we are continuing to evolve in our culinary journey. The entire restaurant and hotel team work hard to provide the best experience for all who visit us. It is an honour to see this effort recognized at the highest level.’
