Driving the health agenda
Speaking about the Roll of Honour announcement Amanda Ursell, Health & Vitality Honours Ambassador and Judge said:
“As the Ambassador of the Health & Vitality Honours, I am hugely proud to be involved in an industry that is improving the health and wellbeing of our nation. As the out of home marker grows, it is of utmost importance the sector taking its responsibility to drive the health agenda seriously. Exciting changes are underway across the industry, which I am personally very interested in, which will continue to ensure that people get the best experience possible when it comes to their food.”
Leading the way in developments
This year’s event has been hailed as particularly pertinent for the sector, as changes to allergen legislation have seen many foodservice companies adapt quickly and drive the agenda.
“As a sector, foodservice is often overlooked when it comes to leading the way in developments. And yet, many of those we work with are in fact contributing a huge amount to tackling challenges such as reducing sugars and salt,” said Charles Miers, Managing Director of the awards. “The Health & Vitality Honours aims to make these companies a positive example to all, and hope it inspires others to take the steps needed to combat the health issues facing the UK population today. Rising obesity and a dramatic increase in allergy suffering can only be dealt with through a holistic, joined-up approach across the entire industry.
“We wish all those shortlisted the very best of luck; everyone deserves to win this year.”
The winners will be announced on Thursday 29 January at a presentation lunch in The Long Room at Lords Cricket Ground. Tickets to attend the awards lunch are now available.
