The landmark Castle Hotel in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire – run by Welsh group, Taste Inn Wales – is on the market with sector specialists at Colliers International.
The recently refurbished Grade II listed 19-bedroom residential inn overlooks the town centre and provides 15 en suite letting rooms plus four more basic walkers’ rooms. The public facilities include a bar and restaurant along with a function suite with capacity for 100 guests.
At the rear of the ground floor is a shop called The Red Giraffe which is let out at a rental of £200 per month. In addition, two rooms on the first floor are being used as a local museum, bringing further visitors in to the business.
Peter Brunt from Colliers International, who specialises in selling hotels and pubs across Wales and the West, said the traditional coaching inn had a turnover of £660,000 net in Y/E February 2013.
He said: “The Castle is a well-presented hotel occupying a prominent position in the town centre and offers a persuasive balance between the rustic charm of its 17th century roots with contemporary styling.
“Our clients own a group of hospitality businesses centred around Crickhowell and Brecon, and have found that this, the most distant of their group, is beyond a comfortable distance for their management operation. As such, they have decided to sell The Castle so that they can concentrate on their hub properties.
“This gives new owners the chance to get their hands on a thriving business in an excellent, all-year round location. We are inviting offers over £700,000 Freehold for the property.”
