Leading tabletop and barware specialist, John Artis Limited, the sole UK distributor of Luigi Bormioli glassware to the hotel, restaurant and foodservice sectors, featured three different Luigi Bormioli glassware collections, including the innovative Vinoteque range at the recent London International Wine Fair.
Vinoteque is a range of wine-specific stemware scientifically developed by Luigi Bormioli to meet the demanding standards of the wine connoisseur. Additionally, John Artis used the occasion of the Show to launch to the wine trade two new Luigi Bormioli stemware ranges, Romantica and Atelier Prestige.
All three collections were displayed on the Artis stand, together with a representative selection of tumblers for the spirits industry.
VINOTEQUE
Vinoteque stemware, with a shape to suit every wine
Specifically aimed at the wine community, Vinoteque has been designed to fully satisfy all five senses – hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch.
Because each wine varietal has its own unique organoleptic properties, it should be served in a suitably designed glass that will optimise the individual characteristics of the particular wine type.
There are 16 different wine glass shapes in the collection, each individually designed for a particular wine type. The Vinoteque range also includes a spirits snifter and a martini glass.
The Vinoteque collection is made from High Tech SON.hyx® blown crystal glass, titanium reinforced, which provides a high resistance to breakage and with a quality, purity and resonance rivalling that of lead crystal. SON.hyx® is a totally light permeable material, absolutely transparent and colourless, which means that light absorption through the glass is almost zero, ensuring that the true colour of the wine can be seen.
Each glass has been individually designed to improve the balance of the different aromas in the head space whilst at the same time facilitating the rotation of wine in the glass. The individual shape conveys the aromatic molecules towards the nose in the correct concentration and balance and guides the wine towards specific areas of the tongue, ensuring the correct amount of wine is taken at each sip, whilst guaranteeing perfect contact between lower lip and the rim of the bowl, thus avoiding annoying drips.
ROMANTICA
Romantica. A combination of delicacy and strength
New from Luigi Bormioli and using another of the Company’s advanced glass technologies, sparkx®, Romantica is pure, sparkling and durable.
The new technology, which is Titanium reinforced, marries clarity with strength, making this collection of stemware and tumblers highly practical, yet sophisticated.
Romantica features an optic swirl in the bowl, giving it a distinctive appearance and the tumblers are heavy based, yet elegant. The range comprises two sizes of wine glass, champagne flute, double old fashioned and cooler.
ATELIER PRESTIGE
Atelier Prestige. Now a tulip shape for red wine
Also manufactured using SON.hyx® technology and new for 2011, Atelier Prestige is a modern take on the classic tulip design. The range features stemware for Chardonnay, Reisling, Champagne and the larger, 55cl bowl Bordeaux, which is eminently suitable for red wine.
Commenting on the Show, Artis’ Managing Director, John Artis said: “We were pleased with the number and relevance of visitors to show. Our stemware, particularly the Vinoteque range, was well received as the wine trade, sommeliers and restaurateurs alike realised the relevance of fine glassware that brings out the true characteristics of individual wine varieties.”
