By Majella Taylor, New Openings Editor, H&C News: Still plenty to shout about at Hush.

Hush has been resident in Mayfair for more than 20 years and as every season comes and goes, its al fresco dining courtyard is redecorated with eye catching objects and foliage.
This season, it is the turn of Sly Dog Spiced Rum whose woodland fairy tale theme offers a warm and welcoming wonderland-esque adventure. Colourful autumnal shades frame baroque mirrors, vintage books, love potions and more which all nod to a distinct bottle.
If the courtyard is an introduction of what’s to come, I can’t wait to try their cocktails and Hush’s brand-new menu.
Raffaele Parise is the new executive chef at Hush. His fine dining experience in Kuwait, at the Marriott International and at San Carlo should hold him in good stead for the patrons of this highly reputable establishment.
His inaugural menu is full of Italian favourites with a few international influences such as the yellowtail sashimi starter and the Purple Sprouting Broccoli Tempura with a yuzu miso sauce.
A cocktail to start the journey. The ‘Wolfpack Punch’ was a welcome uplifting tonic to my long day. A sparkling, fruity, refreshing concoction with chilli liquor and absinthe.
The star of the starters was the Beef Fillet Carpaccio with parmesan, burrata cream, hazelnut, lime and truffle. A sublime balance of delicate and bold earthy flavours using superior products.
Another cocktail? Why not? It is close to my birthday. The ‘Sly & Stormy night’ has my tastebuds tingling and ready for my main.
An exquisite and expertly prepared and deboned-at-the-table grilled Dover Sole was my choice for main and my fellow diner Donna decided on the ‘Parmesan Wheel’ Cacio & Pepe with winter truffle.
Next was dessert, and we were sharing that.
The Sly Dog Enchanted Espresso with cold brew liqueur, stout syrup, espresso, chocolate & tonka bitters was the perfect accompaniment to ‘Raffaele’s Tiramisu’. Despite the possibly controversial choice to use custard instead of cream, the pairing left my palate cheery and content.
The magical courtyard aesthetics, the delicious and creative Sly Dog cocktails, of course my wonderful friend to accompany me, and a taste of the glorious new menu at Hush were all a fantastic way to start my birthday celebrations.
The Sly Dog experience ends on the 27th of this month, I’d advise to book soon to avoid disappointment.
