Any attempt to interpret the image above as anything other than an illegal gathering is an exercise in self-delusion, and one that requires quite some effort. The rules at the time, made by the Prime Minister, were explicit, making the gathering pictured illegal.
While this party was going on…
You were forced to close your hospitality business.
You were forced to make some of your team redundant.
You were then asked to be grateful for the furlough scheme to part pay your team to stay away from work.
Your business was diminished.
All too many businesses were lost.
Countless jobs were lost.
Hospitality jobs became high risk at that time, many have stayed away from hospitality ever since.
The cost of closure to hospitality was high.
Whilst those costs were building, in and around November 13th, 2020, we all watched the Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues hold daily press briefings to justify the emergency laws they passed.
What nobody imagined at that time was that they were all coming and going from Party Central, nee 10 Downing Street, where the same laws were ignored completely seemingly viewed as only applicable to the plebs.
Now, denials of gatherings at Party Central breaking any laws through the pandemic lockdown periods continue. They are considered lies. The Prime Minister lies about them continuously, as do countless government ministers and spokespeople, many of whom were present.
The view from Party Central seems to be indifferent imagining more lies on top of the mountain already assembled will magic reality away. Let’s all hope the opposition parties are on their game tomorrow throughout Prime Ministers Questions.
