Great Food Club Awards have named Craig Floate as their Private Chef of the Year 2020/21.
Great Food Club is based in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire and celebrate the best food and drink independents in the East Midlands. Every pub, restaurant, food shop and producer they recommend is vetted by their team before they can be featured on their website. They are all chosen on merit. “When selecting, we ask ourselves one question: would we recommend this independent to a discerning friend? If it’s a yes, they’re in.”
Their Private Chef of the Year has been awarded to Craig Floate who this year was up against some stiff competition, namely – Knife, Fork & Spooner, Ketton, Rutland – Stanley Street Food, Barnwell, Northamptonshire – The Enterprising Chef, Melbourne, Derbyshire.
Chef Floate won over the judges with his classic cooking and impressive customer service, and his ethos of listening closely to his clients’ needs.
Floate has always felt that food was a part of who he was ever since he was young. After school he studied in Nottingham at a top catering college. He would wait tables and also worked in a small French bistro in the evenings whilst studying. Craig managed to develop his cooking skills when he joined a medium sized hotel as a Chef de Partie.
As a chef there are many roads that can be taken and Craig wanted to experience different types of catering, so he started catering for corporate companies as well as universities. As he got more experience and his confidence grew, he soon started to cater for well-known sporting events including…
- Royal Ascot
- Cheltenham Race Festival
- Wimbledon
- British Open Golf
One of Floate’s proudest experiences was cooking for the athletes in the 2012 Olympic Games, before becoming a personal chef, providing private dining.
H&C News would like to offer our congratulations to Craig Floate, having enjoyed his food on a number of occasions we understand the judges decisions and applaud them.
