With eight years’ experience at glh Hotels Steve Cane, the former general manager at Amba Hotel Charing Cross, has been promoted to General Manager of sister hotel Amba Hotel Marble Arch. Equipped with over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality sector, he knows what is needed to run a great hotel and is looking forward to celebrating the individuality of the property.
Working in the hospitality industry since he was a teenager, Steve brings a wealth of hospitality knowledge to the role and plans on focusing on personalised customer service, unique team training and tailoring the food and beverage selection at the hotel. With a team of 222 to manage, active training will form a large part of Steve’s role as he believes that all learning should be carried out first hand, not in front of a computer screen.
Steve said, “Training should be bitesize and digestible – and learnt on the job. I encourage all staff to live and breathe the Amba Hotels brand, whether that’s booking a night’s stay or trying the breakfast, as they should feel inspired by the product and the customers.”
“I began my career at glh Hotels eight years ago when I was appointed Hotel Manager at Marble Arch when it was part of the Thistle brand. Since then I’ve worked at Amba Hotel Charing Cross – which was the first hotel in the Amba portfolio, so I’m really passionate about the Amba Hotels brand. The customer journey should be as personal as possible and I look forward to working with the team to create a standard of excellence throughout the hotel. I’m absolutely thrilled to continue my journey with glh Hotels and I can’t wait to get started!”
Mike Magrane, Operations Director at glh Hotels, said: “Steve believes in creating great teams, getting them to interact with customers and going that extra mile to make those memories that last. Steve is a great role model for his team and the future stars of hospitality.”
In his spare time, Steve enjoys sampling unique food and drink venues in London with his friends and family.
