The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow, set on the Chatsworth Estate, is pleased to announce the addition of four bedrooms in the newly converted Coach House, immediately adjacent to the main hotel. This brings the total of bedrooms to 28 including two suites.
Key features include exposed roof trusses to the first floor bedrooms, attractive recessed window seats and fireplaces. The south facing windows, particularly from the first floor bedrooms, offer far reaching views across the countryside of the Chatsworth estate. The two ground floor rooms have been made accessible at the same time ensuring they are aesthetically just as pleasing as those on the first floor. These spacious rooms have been well laid out with wider doorways, low level handles and controls, floor level showers and offer the same high level of comfort and luxury.
Antique furniture that has been languishing in store at Chatsworth has been brought back to life to furnish the bedrooms with charming individual pieces including French cabriolet armchairs and circular drum tables. Old four poster beds were sent to the UK’s top four poster restoration company for complete renovation and are fitted with bespoke top of the range Hypnos Landsdowne Cashmere luxury pocket-sprung mattresses in line with the beds throughout the hotel.
Interior designer Rachel Maclane from Malton in North Yorkshire master-minded the interiors and soft furnishings in conjunction with the Duchess of Devonshire. English manufactured carpets and fabrics have been used combining textures and patterns and include carpets woven with the Chatsworth serpent motif.
Managing Director Philip Joseph commented: “From first discussions, through obtaining planning permission to carrying out the actual work, all along our emphasis has been to ensure we look after the lovely features of the building whilst creating a sense of luxury and complete comfort for our guests. Our architects, Haxton Koyander, designed sympathetic extensions to two elevations enhancing the space and overall appearance. Rachel, who was also responsible for our most recent refurbishments in the main hotel, has done a brilliant job in guaranteeing the rooms are well thought out and equipped to the highest standard to offer a totally relaxing experience. That’s why people come to The Cavendish.”
