Catering management system Spoonfed saw customers’ catering revenues increase by an average of 17% across the board in 2017, with even more impressive growth in web ordering.
The cloud-based software used on three continents is making a real difference to all sizes of catering business, from global food service management companies to retail chains and independent caterers, with average revenues taken from online ordering rising by 54% in November 2017 compared to the previous year.
Spoonfed users saw a 28% increase in the number of orders received online in 2017 compared with 2016, as well as growth in the number and value of orders taken on the phone or by email in the system’s ‘back office’.
Co-founder and MD Willie Biggart says the growth is not unexpected: “The convenience of our online ordering system encourages caterers’ customers to keep coming back, repeating and amending previous food and drink requests quickly and easily, with delivery addresses and order preferences being stored automatically.
“Meanwhile, caterers see order values grow even faster,” Mr Biggart continued, “It’s the 54% growth in online ordering revenues that is making our platform an industry favourite. Spoonfed is designed to make it simple to upsell – customers can easily upgrade their choices, paying supplementary costs for premium ingredients, and with extra items (desserts, drinks, snacks, etc) appearing in a prominent place when adding menus to the cart.”
Spoonfed differs from many catering systems in its ability to handle this increase. Its suite of back office tools that automate processes and improve the efficiency of production, delivery and invoicing are what enables caterers to handle the extra workload.
With several major enhancements to the system due to be released this year, including B2C ordering, customer feedback options and Microsoft Power BI integration, the Spoonfed team are excited to see how much more growth they can bring their customers in 2018.
