This month, catering experts and connoisseurs of all things bubbly; Searcys, are celebrating their 170th anniversary. To commemorate the success of almost two centuries in the industry, a variety of standout events and experiences will be taking place over the course of the month. As the brand turns 170, Managing Director Matt Thomas, reflects on the success of the company, while also noting that he aims to take the brand in a new direction over the next few years.
Matt Thomas joined Searcys less than a year ago, having held a number of senior positions within WSH.
Matt says, “This brand remains both timeless and elegant. I am excited by the future of Searcys and we will remain fully focussed on delivering wonderful food and great service, in iconic surroundings. We will also stay true to the values which have long been held important, in turn caring for our teams and guests. It is these things and more that will allow us to realise our full potential in the years ahead.”
Searcys as a brand is the celebration of heritage and innovation. Matt Thomas highlights, “The blend of being the longest running catering firm in the UK along with also being at the forefront of the latest thinking in drink development and food sourcing makes us a very special brand.”
Thomas’s hope for the next few years are to introduce more consumer-friendly experiences, while also “growing the brand in the vision of our founder who maintained the highest standards while constantly innovating and being ahead of his time.”
When asked about plans for further expansion, a representative of Searcys says, “We have huge ambitions for Searcys and look forward to growing from our current £53m turnover to double in the next 5 years. We have opened two new venues this year, and have plans for lots more in the coming months.”
Highlights of this month’s celebrations include a Champagne Tour through the city of London, a unique Laurent-Perrier afternoon tea experience, free fizz at Searcys St Pancras with a 170-minute “Champagne Countdown”.
