The award-winning Punch Bowl Inn & Restaurant at Crosthwaite has appointed a new General Manager.
Gareth Hussey joins the 5-star, 2AA rosette inn with rooms from the Cottage in the Wood in Keswick. Prior to that he was Duty Manager at the Armathwaite Hall Country House Hotel & Spa.
Gareth, 31 is originally from Cornwall but now lives in Cockermouth in the Lake District with his partner, Lydia and cockapoo, Edith.
After studying Accountancy at Plymouth University, he soon decided that the standard 9-5 job wasn’t for him. A career in hospitality beckoned where he proved his worth by doing just about every job possible at the St Mellion International Resort in Cornwall.
Gareth was attracted to the Punch Bowl by its strong food reputation, which he intends to help the team further develop by introducing a new private dining experience complete with champagne, canapés and a special tasting menu from this autumn.
He likes to meet and chat to people so Punch Bowl customers will most likely find him welcoming them at front of house than being confined to an office.
In his spare time, Gareth enjoys making the most of his Lake District surroundings and can regularly be found cycling and walking in the area.
The Punch Bowl Inn & Restaurant has nine bedrooms and is situated in the beautiful Lyth Valley countryside close to Kendal and Windermere. It has a well-earned reputation for excellent quality food and drink and a stack of industry awards to prove it.
