Known for its fine ales and imaginative menu, Veritas has long been a focal point of the North West quarter of Leeds city centre, just a stone’s throw away from the university, town hall and law courts. Now the venue’s owners Market Town Taverns have applied their special touch to an extensive refurbishment.
MTT’s managing director, Louise Middlemass explained; “Veritas is the latest MTT venue to receive a substantial investment as we continue to develop our pubs and bars across the North of England. As one of Leeds’ favourite upmarket venues, Veritas has been given ‘the treatment’ by us, and we’re really looking forward to re-opening for our customers on Friday, 11th August”.
MTT promises the refurbishment is much more than skin-deep with the bar area having being extended and opened out to provide a new relaxed and welcoming experience.
“As with our other venues, we’ve paid particular attention to enhancing the daytime experience too” said Louise. “We’re extending our daytime dining on Saturday and Sundays whilst continuing to offer our unique blend of Melitta coffee, as well as our usual free super-fast Wi-Fi. It’s all about making Veritas a perfect hangout, day or night right in the heart of Leeds”.
For aficionados of ‘the grape’, the new look Veritas is offering a completely revised wine-list, selected and sourced by specialist vintners from all over the world. To ensure the integrity of wines is maintained, Veritas is also now offering Coravin which allows fine wines to be poured with the cork kept firmly in the bottle without disturbing the natural ageing process.
Louise explained; “With no oxidation, we can allow the wine to continue to evolve naturally. This system allows customers to sample our more expensive fine wines by the glass. It means there’s more scope to try different wines without having to commit to a full bottle.”
