Simon Rogan and Mayfair hotel Claridge’s have mutually agreed to end their three year partnership as of April 30th 2017. Simon Rogan’s UMBEL Restaurant Group is refocusing its business to run independent restaurants and mirror the successful operation of L’Enclume and expand the consumer experience in Cartmel.
This decision has been taken to continue to deliver quality restaurant experiences across the group’s portfolio that truly reflect Simon’s ethos of ‘farm to plate’ dining.
The restaurant group is in talks with a short list of locations with the ambition to open a permanent site of the acclaimed pop-up Roganic which Simon ran for two years from 2011- 2013. The new site’s menu will be inspired by the farm that Simon Rogan established in Cumbria in 2009 and supplies all of his own restaurants. The farm has become his brand signature due to the team carefully cultivating seasonal vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers to set a benchmark for the highest calibre of ingredients and provenance that creates a truly traceable dining experience.
Fera at Claridge’s, the restaurant which Rogan and Claridge’s launched together in 2014, will continue to operate at the hotel under the direction of Head Chef Matt Starling, a protégé of Rogan, who will lead and drive the new culinary vision with the existing team.
Simon said “It’s been a pleasure working with Claridge’s for a successful and enjoyable three years, and as the time has come to move on, we do so with excitement for the future and grateful for our time at Fera.”
Claridge’s General Manager Paul Jackson said “We have had three very successful and creative years working with Simon and his talented team at Fera. We would particularly like to thank them for all their hard work and inspiration in keeping Claridge’s at the forefront of the London culinary world. We wish Simon all the best for his exciting future plans.”
