London Cocktail Club, The Cocktail Bar Group owned by world-renowned bartending entrepreneur JJ Goodman has launched its seventh venue in London’s Monument.
The latest venture for the group is inspired by the classic old-school Savile Row style tailors iconic to London and reminiscent of the building’s former purpose as a traditional men’s suit shop. An outstanding display of the team’s joined talent and dedication; the next iteration of LCC is a sharp & dapper basement bar, where gentrified British monarchy gets a twisted 70’s vibe.
London Cocktail Club Monument marks a new phase for the company, which is also owned by Partner James Hopkins. Just steps from Monument underground station on the corner of Fish Street Hill and the bustling Eastcheap road, the cocktail bar’s entrance is framed by an impressive shop front designed in collaboration with leading fashion brand, ASOS. In each gold-leafed window stands towering suited mannequins fitted with gigantic taxidermy animal heads, crafted exclusively for LCC by legendary West-End costume and prop designer Ellan Parry.
Vivienne Westwood and Paul Smith are creative idols of the brand, and this is apparent downstairs where rock n’ roll, eccentric punk meets gentleman’s club. The tailor theme carries throughout with pinstripe, sharks-tooth and tweed clad stool-tops and banqueting; custom made by celebrity favourites, Penwith Upholsterery Ltd. In true London Cocktail Club style, the new venue is characterized by candle-lit nooks, eclectic antiques and an imposing bar that features countless rows of intriguing spirits, vermouths and liqueurs. With bespoke art-work and wallpaper; each brightly pattered wall in the 1500 square foot basement bar is a separate work of art unto itself.
In keeping with the group’s trademark tradition to select a spirit specialty, the focus here is on Scotch whisky: expect secret menus including Rob Roys; whisky fountains, Top Hat sharing cocktails, a Rolling Stones soundtrack and the infamous LCC liquor-fueled mayhem the group is adored for.
