After acquiring the site in early 2016, The City Fund Pub Company has relaunched Walkers of Whitehall after extensive refurbishment. Walkers of Whitehall opens as an exciting venue, with first floor pub, separate dining room and basement cocktail bar.
Located just south of Trafalgar Square and tucked down a side street, this new hidden gem of a pub split over three floors provides the perfect back drop, no matter what time of day.
Originally built as a bank in 1694, Walkers of Whitehall has retained its historical character throughout the refurbishment. Guests enter the building from Craig’s Court down a cobbled lane and enter the pub where a number of craft beers are served including Fourpure, Renegade and Harpoon as well as a wide selection of craft bottled beers.
Located on the lower ground floor, the dining room with its elegant banquette seating and an open plan kitchen serves a concise menu built around the kitchen’s robata grill with meat, fish and vegetables cooked over English charcoal, dishes include;
- Beef short rib with chipotle glaze
- Charred cauliflower with Tahini
- Cumin Lamb leg with Z’atar and flatbread.
- Cod, pine nuts and parsley
Stephen Gadd, Executive Chef, said: “Our menu focuses on seasonal Ingredients cooked over the open flame, taking influences from Argentina to the Middle East with a view to introducing a new style of quality cooking in Westminster”.
The cocktail bar is located in the former bank vaults of the building, one floor down from the dining room and has been fitted with a beautifully arched and embossed pewter ceiling. For a perfect way to round off the evening, guests can enjoy an extensive cocktail list including barrel-aged Negronis and Smoked Maple Old Fashioneds.
