London street food specialists, KERB, are returning with bags of flavour to this year’s Alchemy Festival at Southbank Centre, 19th until 30th May. This will be a 12-day assault on all the senses sure to wake up even the sleepiest of city dwellers. KERB will bring together KERBanists, out of town mavericks and friends of KERB to create something delicious for all of London to enjoy exploring the cuisines of India, Pakinstan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
New this year KERB’s star traders will add their own unique twists on the Alchemy theme. Mac dons, Anna Mae’s introduce spicy versions of the Murgh Mac (Mac with black pepper chicken fry, garlic raita & wild mustard leaves) and the Macwari Naan (Grilled mac n cheese naan). Pizza heroes Born & Raised will be pulling wood-fired Nepalese pizzas from the oven whilst What the Dickens! will serve the original kedgeree that India gave the British. Ice cream maestro Blu Top will dish out Assam tea cookie & Cardamom Kheer, and Toasted Almond cookie & Pandan Leaf ice cream sammies.
Vegetarian favourites Dosa Deli and Horn OK Please return with their feel-good dosas and bhel puri. Hear the familiar ‘chop-chop’ of Sri Lankan stall Kothu Kothu and the Brummie japes from Baba G’s; back with the Chicken Tikka Onion Bhaji Tower Burger. Visitors are encouraged to look out for the legend that is Angus, wheeling his Jhal Muri Express trolley round the market.
KERB is also excited to introduce Yum Afghan for his KERB debut. His steamed dumplings with yoghurt are a taste to treasure.
From beyond KERB is set to include curry in a myriad of forms, the staple dish will appear in numerous verions courtesy of The Peckish Peacock, Bun Kebab, Gupta’s, Ladle & Skillet, Pakistani heroes Curry Cook House, Curry Shack and Curry On.
To quench visitor’s thirsts KERB have created a hop bar specialising in IPAs and all things hoppy including Beavertown’s Bloody ‘Ell, a blood orange IPA. The KERB cocktail bar will serve up its famous Milk Punch and lassis will be whipped up by Dosa Deli’s Little Lassi Wagon. On teas it’s KERB favourite ‘tea-dealer’, Teala and Square Root peddling their custom-made sodas all week long.
A Happy Hour will be on offer every day from 4pm-6pm and the chance to win a KERB Gold Card with every drink bought from the bar. The KERB Gold Card offers free KERB for a whole year.
