Zuma is to open its first restaurant in Mexico with the launch of Zuma Cabo at Cabo Del Sol on 5 November 2026.

Located within Anima Village in Cabo San Lucas, the opening will continue the contemporary Japanese restaurant brand’s expansion across North America following the recent launch of Zuma San Diego.
Founded in London almost 25 years ago, Zuma has subsequently expanded internationally to destinations including Hong Kong, Istanbul, Rome, Miami and Madrid.
The Cabo restaurant will feature indoor and outdoor dining, open-air terraces and a bar alongside dedicated events facilities.
Its events space will accommodate up to 400 standing guests or 200 seated.
“Opening our first Zuma in Mexico marks an exciting milestone for us, particularly as we continue to introduce the brand to new destinations and audiences,” said Sven Koch, Chief Executive Officer of Azumi Restaurant Group. “While every Zuma has its own distinct character, our ethos has always been rooted in exceptional food, warm hospitality and creating an atmosphere that brings people together. Cabo offers an incredible setting for us to build on that philosophy, embracing the destination’s energetic lifestyle and striking natural landscape, while delivering the dining experience that has become synonymous with Zuma worldwide. We’re incredibly excited to welcome our first guests and begin this new chapter in Mexico this November.”
Zuma Cabo has been designed by the brand’s in-house design team, drawing inspiration from the landscape and architectural heritage of Baja California.
The restaurant will be arranged around a series of open-air pavilions, pathways and internal gardens, with terraces facing the ocean and a bar overlooking the mountains.
Japanese and Mexican influences have been combined through the use of natural materials and locally produced elements.
These include tropical teak and Parota wood, hand-carved mango wood totems by Tokali and ceramic pillars by Maria Pizarro.
A four-metre natural tree trunk will form the DJ counter, while landscaping will incorporate native plants including Baja California’s Torote trees.
Zuma creator and co-founder Rainer Becker has guided the direction of the menu, which will retain the brand’s izakaya-style approach with dishes designed for sharing.
Signature dishes will include Gin-dara no saikyo yaki, marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf; Arjun’s chu-toro maki, combining prime tuna, spring onion and Oscietra caviar; and Yaki taraba gani, Norwegian king crab with ponzu.
The Cabo restaurant will also introduce dishes developed specifically for the location.
These will include Lobster Shimofuri with shiso chilli dashi and crispy ginger, Crispy Nori Grouper with tomato jalapeño relish, baby gem and wasabi mayo, and Robata Corn and Milk Caramel Flan with husk chantilly, mochi and miso sablé.
Zuma Cabo will open at Cabo Del Sol in Cabo San Lucas on 5 November 2026.
