Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa in Leeds has opened FYR Grill, a new open-flame restaurant developed through a £500,000 investment.

Owned by Thwaites, the hotel has introduced the restaurant around a central open kitchen and grill, allowing guests to watch dishes being cooked directly over fire.
Up to ten diners can sit around the central grill, while further seating options are available throughout the restaurant.
The menu includes meat, seafood, vegetarian and vegan dishes, with examples including ember queenie scallops, crispy ox cheek, a 12oz tomahawk steak, Thwaites Paradise beer can whole chicken, halloumi shawarma and fire-hanging kebabs.
The cooking approach uses direct heat and smoke to brown, caramelise and char ingredients across a range of dishes.
Paul Nixon, general manager at Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa said: “Creating memorable experiences has always been a top priority for us here at Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa – and we know that FYR is going to add a whole new level to that. Think live roaring flames, chef interactions, and sensational fresh flavours – we’re all about the experience.”
The £500,000 project has included a complete redesign of the restaurant interiors alongside the installation of a custom-made grill and new catering equipment.
A bespoke breakfast counter and chef’s table have also been introduced as part of the development.
The interiors were led by Thwaites Head of Interior Design Rachel Wooton, with the restaurant designed around social dining and interaction with the open kitchen.
Rachel said: “To complement the immersive grilling aspect of this investment, we really wanted to home in on creating a space that well and truly envelopes you in social interaction.
“The open-fire grill takes centre stage here, prompting conversations and sparking those real ‘wow’ moments. So, to lean into those exciting interactions, we’ve introduced warmth and vibrancy to the colours and tones in this space. We’ve added bespoke eclectic artwork, cosy booth seating, and atmospheric lighting – all to create a sense of comfort, communication, and a little bit of luxury.”
The opening extends Thwaites’ FYR Grill concept to Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa following its introduction at other properties within the group.
Paul added: “We’re always looking for new ways to invest in and elevate our offering, and with FYR already reeling in unbeatable reviews at our other hotels, this naturally felt like the next big investment for us.
“The team has worked incredibly hard planning, designing and executing this fantastic new space, so we’re really excited to welcome guests through our doors.”
The restaurant investment follows the addition of an adults-only relaxation lounge within the hotel’s spa.
Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa is located outside Leeds city centre with connections to the motorway network and offers accommodation, spa facilities, food and drink and leisure services.
