The Urban Sauna is set to open in Liverpool’s Anfield district on Saturday 14 November 2026, creating 20 jobs and introducing a new outdoor wellness destination as part of the regeneration of a former commercial site.

Developed by regeneration company Seven Group, the facility forms part of a 24,000 sq ft wellness and commercial hub on Cherry Lane, where previously derelict land is being transformed into a leisure and business destination.
The development follows four months of work to create an outdoor wellness environment featuring Scandinavian-inspired facilities surrounded by trees and greenery.
The Urban Sauna will feature two Scandinavian log-burning saunas, each accommodating up to 16 people, alongside two 10-person hot tubs, a six-person ice bath, two individual ice baths and shower facilities.
The project aims to provide a new leisure and wellbeing destination for local residents and visitors, while generating employment and supporting the wider regeneration of the Anfield area.
Shane Hanley, Director of Seven Group and Co-Founder of The Urban Sauna, said: “People lead busy, hectic and stressful lives, so I wanted to create an outdoor health and wellness centre where they can come for an hour a day, two, three or four times a week—to relax, unwind and take a break from real life.
“Over the last 14 years, I’ve done a lot of work in the city with charities and local businesses. I felt now was the time to do something special for Liverpool and give something back to the community.”
The opening forms part of a wider regeneration programme at the Cherry Lane site, which has attracted more than £2.5 million of investment over the past two years.
The project has included the renovation of an existing building into a children’s nursery and play centre, while a former college building has been converted into seven modern trade units, which are now occupied by businesses.
Seven Group is planning a further £6 million of development and investment across the site, with proposals including container storage facilities and additional leisure attractions.
Future facilities are expected to include a golf simulator, swimming pool and gym, extending the site’s recreational offering beyond the initial sauna development.
Hanley said the new facility has been designed to offer an alternative environment for people looking to relax and spend time outdoors.
He added: “This is about bringing people back to nature. Once you’re here, it feels like being in the country. It’s Scandinavian—simple saunas and cold-water treatments inspired by how saunas were used hundreds of years ago, offering a wellness experience that’s a little different.”
The Urban Sauna will welcome visitors for a public viewing event on Saturday 14 November between midday and 4pm, giving local residents an opportunity to explore the facilities ahead of regular trading.
Following its opening, the venue is scheduled to operate seven days a week, from 7am to 9pm, with a limited number of places available for each session.
Membership packages will be offered alongside individual bookings, block bookings and private access options, providing different ways for customers to use the facilities.
The opening comes as interest in sauna experiences, outdoor wellness and social leisure concepts continues to influence investment across the hospitality and leisure sectors.
For Seven Group, the development represents another stage in the transformation of the Cherry Lane site, combining commercial property regeneration with employment opportunities and facilities for the surrounding community.
Hanley concluded: “This was a rundown site that we decided to regenerate, and we want the people of Liverpool to come and enjoy it.
“The dream has become a reality, and it’s going to be phenomenal.”
The Urban Sauna is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday 14 November 2026.
