Castle Pubs, part of Mitchells & Butlers, is to reopen The Jericho Tavern in Oxford on 29 October following an extensive refurbishment.

The 226-cover pub has undergone changes across its interiors and outdoor areas alongside upgrades to its events facilities and food offer.
The redesigned interior combines dark red and green tones with exposed brickwork, dark timber, brass detailing and upholstered seating.
Traditional lighting and wall mouldings have been retained alongside new furniture, Chesterfield-style seating and art deco-inspired flooring.
The layout has also been reconfigured to improve movement through the pub and provide greater flexibility for group dining and private bookings.
Large screens and Sky Sports have been introduced to support live sports coverage throughout the year.
The Jericho Tavern’s music heritage will remain a central part of the venue.
The pub has previously hosted early performances from bands including Pulp and Mumford & Sons, with its upstairs space now featuring a memorabilia wall around the staircase.
The upstairs area has also been redesigned as a multi-purpose events space for live music, comedy nights and community events and will be available for private hire.
Outside, the 84-cover beer garden has been upgraded with new landscaping, festoon lighting, heaters and planters.
Additional bench seating has been introduced around the existing trees and beneath the covered pergola.
The new food menu will combine pub dishes and seasonal British food with stone-baked pizzas prepared in a newly installed pizza oven.
Dan Barnett, Operations Director at Castle Pubs comments: “We’re delighted to be reopening The Jericho Tavern at the end of the month following a significant investment in the pub. Given its long-standing place within the community and its music heritage, it was important to retain the pub’s character and personality, whilst evolving its offering to meet the needs of today’s guests. The refurbishment has created a more versatile pub with an improved food and drink offer, alongside dedicated areas for sport, live entertainment, private hire and community events. We look forward to welcoming both longstanding regulars and new guests through the doors”
The refurbishment forms part of Castle Pubs’ wider investment programme, with the business planning investment across 12 sites as it moves into 2027.
